They count clicks, not collected orders; they pay before the refund window closes; and they need customer accounts your store does not have.
Two programmes, one engine
- Refer-a-friend: the friend gets an instant discount at checkout; the referrer receives a store-credit code by email once the order vests
- Professional affiliates: percentage commissions in cash; payouts by bank transfer, PayPal or manual, with payment references
Economics you control
- Default 5 % (configurable), per-category rates — say 3 % on boilers and 8 % on accessories — and per-affiliate overrides
- Commissions count only collected orders and vest for 30 days, so refunds and cancellations never pay out; cancelled orders reverse automatically
- 90-day attribution window, first attribution wins; minimum payout; payables rolled on the 1st of each month
- Commission basis is the items total minus discounts — shipping is never commissionable
Operations without the spreadsheet
- Roster with approval, referrals, commissions, payouts and credits in the admin
- Fraud gates: self-referral and duplicate email or IP are refused
- Welcome and credit-issued emails; affiliate dashboards by magic link — no customer accounts to manage
